Delhi Sees 12,651 Covid Cases In 1 Day , Positivity Rate Falls Below 20% !

New Delhi
- Delhi reported 319 more COVID-19 deaths and 12,651 new infections, the lowest in four weeks, on Monday, with a positivity rate of 19.10 per cent - lowest since April 16 !

The positivity rate in Delhi has remained above the 20 per cent mark since April 17.

The low number of new cases can be attributed to a smaller number of tests.

The number of tests conducted over the past 24 hours stood at 66,234. On Wednesday it was 79,491; on Thursday 78,780; on Friday 79,593; on Saturday 74,384; on Sunday 61,552.

Number of patients who have recovered over the last day stood at 13,306, while the total numbers of patients who have recovered was at 12,31,297 !

A coronavirus test report is no longer needed to get hospitalised, the centre said over the weekend in its revised guidelines that make sure that those suffering from Covid get "prompt, effective and comprehensive treatment".

Maharashtra, Karnataka and Delhi are among 10 states that account for 73.91 per cent of the 3,66,161 new COVID-19 cases registered in a day, the Union Health Ministry said on Monday.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday further extended the lockdown till May 17 as threat to life from a mutating coronavirus has aggravated manifold.

The city-state is in the fourth week of the lockdown as the Covid numbers spiralled, bringing hospitals to their knees and pushing patients and doctors to look to social media for help amid a huge crisis of oxygen, beds and key drugs.

"The positivity rate has gone down but still we can't afford leniency. We need to extend to lockdown," Mr Kejriwal said yesterday !
